Cue the 'Light in the Piazza' overture
Many, many listeners have pointed out how gay this podcast is - and yes, it's spectacularly, magnificently gay - but it's also insightful, informative, and frequently hilarious for this straight man who is twice John and Matt's age, and roughly four times their combined weight. Matt and I hate the same things, so I find him very wise. He has a terrific knowledge of theatre history, and is unfraid to use it. I am surprised, but glad, he has not run out of friends to use for episodes when John is unavailable. John is smarter and deeper than he pretends to be, and particularly good at addressing some of the more thorny issues currently being debated in the theatre. The two hosts complement one another beautifully, and binge-listening to their work over the last few months has left me feeling like I've found two new theatre friends. They've lifted my spirits higher than Audra McDonald's soft palate, made me pause for thought longer than Sally Murphy did before first saying Billy's name, and touched me in the way Matt will some day touch Michele Pawk's Tony.Read full review »

Matt’s wit and insight into the theatre world is the best travel companion this boy could...Read full review »

This podcast is gayer than under Provincetown’s dock after hours and I love it. There is nothing more delightful than theater queens discussing their favorite things. Not only do I laugh out loud (to the glares of my fellow commuters on the train) but I appreciate that they are also quite wise...Read full review »
