“The series is well produced and well acted. However, I stopped listening because the first episode failed the Bechdel test egregiously as soon as it possibly could. The episode's only conversation between two females featured an older woman telling a sheltered 22 year old that the way to keep a man is to be deceptive - a cliche and absurdly misogynistic trope. The younger woman's leitmotif is a chirpy jazz tune about feeling oh-so pretty, so naturally this Barbara Cartland-esque maiden is going to act on her advice at some point. I'd rather not stick around to hear that hackneyed scene.”Read full review »
