Being an American, my only exposure to curling is on TV every four years during the Olympics, and I find it oddly fascinating. This story might just be the most Canadian thing I’ve ever encountered…and I mean that in a good way. That the athletes and equipment manufacturers put their heads...Read full review »

Interesting story but he could have told me the whole thing in less than 10 minutes.

This was a great podcast. I decided to give it a shot even though I knew nothing about curling and am glad I did. The episodes weren’t to long and were entertaining and easy to understand. The whole show wasn’t too long either. Great show

How embarrassing for a “competitive sport” to not have equipment standards. The “gentlemen” running the game were just naive and stupid. The stones had weight standards - why not the brooms? Dah.

Can’t say enough how much I enjoyed this even as a very very casual fan of curling. John Cullen excelled in storytelling here.

The story is perfectly executed. I appreciated the the interviews. Many key players are interviewed and are perfectly incorporated, telling the story from the first person perspective throughout.

A lovely polite telling of “Broomgate” that typifies the core of why people love curling. Loved it!

Fantastic job John! Nice set up! So many aspects still relevant for today’s game and decisions to come

Great job John and your team….as a curling fan it was great to hear the full story from those that were there. Loved the humour and yet at the heart of it, remembering that the love of the game is what makes the sport so great.

Thoroughly enjoyed this podcast despite being an American who knew practically nothing about curling. It was well explained and super engaging.

Entertaining and interesting, to be sure. But one of the (many) appeals of curling is the fantastic gender balance - Canadian women regularly crush in curling. But they apparently had no involvement in or even opinion about this drama (apart from occasionally passing along thoughts as wives of...Read full review »

Curling is a pretty niche sport but this story is engagingly told and should appeal to anyone.

It was not illuminated that Broomgate e.g. (which has been a good listen) requires a subscription after listening for free to the first four of five episodes. Then it just ends after four, have to go look out to again only to find the final episode is subscriber only. Nope, why not tell me before...Read full review »

I found Broomgate right when I needed it... my normal go-to true crime and politics podcasts were grinding me down, but not to the point of turning to total positivity. As an American, I actually learned about a sport that I've known of, but knew nothing about for years. The interviews and...Read full review »

Four free episodes to get you in and THEN the last episode is only available to subscribers. Slimy. Even by Canadian standards.

I thought this came up as recommended as a comedy podcast. It is not.

This is truly the only thing since Trump announced his candidacy in 2015, COVID, and all the negativity and evil and hatred in the world today, that has renewed my faith in humanity.

As an American, this was a wonderfully entertaining dive into a sport we are all really intrigued with but know little about. So fun to get a behind the door peak into this entertaining sport. And as someone who attempted curling for the first time last year…was sooo not expecting the athleticism...Read full review »

You can’t help but wish the next episode was already here! Broomgate has drama, interviews from your favourite curlers, comedic moments and spills the tea on a real life controversy. It’s a great Canadian sports story for curling and sports fans alike! More like this please!

An interesting story about about a controversial piece of equipment that disrupted a popular winter (and Olympic) sport. Lots has been said about juiced baseballs, the NFL’s deflategate and swimming’s super suits, but John Cullen’s Broomgate is the first definitive look at a time when a new...Read full review »

What a great show! The production is on point, the story is compelling, and the writing works. I love a deep dive into subject I never knew about. Hoping I will be an honorary Canadian after the show finishes.

What an enjoyable listen so far! John Cullen has the perfect voice for this. I’m blocked partys biggest fan and was very excited for this to come out. The story being told is very interesting and was fun to learn about.

I’m about to pay for an Apple Podcasts subscription so that I can get immediate access to next episode of a curling podcast. 😂 Most of what I know about curling I learned in the first two episodes and yet, here I am. 10/10 would recommend.

Interesting topic with a funny host. As a dumb American, the world of curling was mystifying to me but this podcast is great at breaking it down and making the story gripping.
