Shouts to the bad boys
As an avid listener of both Sunday Skate and the Section 10 podcast, I was familiar with the professional side of both Pete and DJ, and through Twitter, I had heard of the Brunch podcast, which touted itself as a defiantly non-hockey, pop culture podcast. Since I am mostly disinterested in anything regarding pop culture, I wrote it off as something that's simply "not for me." Alas, I was mistaken. As the doldrums of the NHL offseason set in, I found my that my threadbare podcast queue was untenable and that I missed the dulcet tones of Pete and DJ's voices accompanying me on my walks to campus. I acquainted myself with Brunch by listening to episodes with guests I already knew and loved, such as Lozo and Feitelberg, and found myself having listened to the whole catalog by the end of the week. It isn't so much the content of the conversations I enjoy, though it is often amusing and engaging, but that it pulls back the curtains on what friendly conversation is and should be. There's no fear about discussing things that are perceived to be "unmanly," and neuroses are examined openly. It's refreshing in spite of conversational topics so asinine that it almost makes you forget that Pete and Deej are journalists who are actually good at their jobs. 5/5 would bring my dog here to pee againRead full review »

These two guys are obviously in love with each other, so much so that the listener often feels like an intruder. They are very self conscious and only exist through the approval of their peers. Their weekly chat focuses on how to dress for the summer, cheating on their diets or where to find the...Read full review »
