This is one of my most-listened-to podcasts. It’s one that I keep an eye on for new episodes to drop. I love the very different personalities, the very different expertises, and the fun banter. Now that you’ve hit 100 episodes (congrats!), it would be fun to hear an episode with the roles...Read full review »

I like Paul and he is so knowledgeable! Kate oh my gosh - she asks the stupidest questions. Oh Paul is a stomach ache normal! She sounds like a twit! I have stopped watching! Miss Paul and Billy!

Love this show but so many many ads. They just break in with no transition music and ruin the flow of the discussion.

Great show but… the ads have become incredibly disruptive, taking you out of the story several times each episode. Please consolidate at the beginning and end.

This podcast does not get cloying or hammy. The two hosts just do their things well.

I really enjoy this podcast and the in depth research for each case and the relative obscurity of most of the cases. The interaction between Kate and Paul adds a lot to each story and Paul’s experience and expertise enhance the stories. Thanks Kate and Paul for giving us a fantastic listen each...Read full review »

Just finished the second part of this story on my way home from work. I got online & ordered The Trial of Hawley Harvey Crippen before I even got out if the car! I am totally loving your pod cast! You 2 work well together. As a nurse & true crime buff I can guess a lot if Paul’s answers...Read full review »

One of my favourite podcasts, Paul Holes insight is fascinating and Kate’s storytelling is captivating however the increase in ads is off putting and getting too much! I think the most respect ep had an ad 2 mins in!

Until today I was a day 1 listener. I have enjoyed the show with its stories from history I did not know. In addition to the adds becoming excessive I was really shocked to hear Kate’s homophobic remark to Paul in the beginning of episode entitled “Vanished pt 1”. She laughs and tells Paul he...Read full review »

Real shame that the mono sounding adverts take away the thrust of the story and completely breaks up the flow of the conversation. Was never as good as The Murder Squad but was good in its prime. Losing that charm by each episode

On my lonnngggg drive from H-Town to Oklahoma! You guys filled all five hours drive (and you are que’d up for another 2.5 hour drive tomorrow). I Love this show!!! Couple of parallels: Paul’s dislike to listen to himself on the podcasts- sounds to me that his voice resonates with listeners and...Read full review »

Kate and Paul are fantastic but the frequency and length of the ads is getting unbearable

Good informative podcast killed by an excessive amount of ads of great length

This is my dream podcast - history, storytelling style and using modern techniques to solve past crimes. A true pleasure with Kate and Paul every week!

…..far too much chatter and too many ads for my taste. 14 minutes last week before the story even began! Love Kate’s voice, Paul speaks repetitively and enunciates oddly. Quality has declined over the past year, rather boring now.
sallyokeefe via Apple Podcasts · Canada · 10/26/24
I used to like the podcast but recently, the episodes seem to be artificially stretched out, resulting in effectively hardly any content for 45 minutes and unnecessary two-parters. Perhaps it’s the other way around: They want two-parters to begin with and then unnecessarily put lots of words...Read full review »

Hard to listen to. Dawson should treat Holes as a guest or partner, not a condescending, micromanaging parent. Very I nterested in true crime, not how Dawson raises her kids.

Love Kate and Paul as a team but gotta say I was surprised in this weeks episode that Paul hadn’t really heard of the Pinkertons and I’ll think I’ll make a drinking game out of every time Kate relates a case back to her book. Great work guys I look forward to this show every week.

I think Arthur’s wife contacted Ed playing it off like she was angry about the affair between Arthur and Alice and made Ed think she wanted to have a rendezvous with Ed to get even but in fact it was a set up. I think the mother in law was aware and staged the scene after Ed was killed. Arthur...Read full review »

Kate and Paul are a joy to listen to… this has become my favourite true crime podcast and I listen to a lot! The cases are always so well researched, so interesting and intriguing and I love the dynamic between the hosts. I am so happy when the new episodes come out! Keep up the great work!

Just recently stumbled upon your podcast. Great show. I did want to make a correction, however, regarding something you asked about in the Overkill, Jeffrey MacDonald case. There WAS blood spatter in Kristin’s (youngest daughter’s) room that was typed as Colette’s blood,, thus proving Collette...Read full review »

Can’t even get Emmon Bodfish’s pronouns right when discussing the case. Scary how much police are willing to disrespect victims, and such shoddy work from ER this wasn’t picked up. Karen and Georgia should be disgusted.
LexingtonRiot via Apple Podcasts · Great Britain · 10/10/24
Love all of Kate’s shows and this one is just stellar! My only ask is that you put the victims names in the episode write up. Love to sleuth about old cases and sometimes it’s hard to get the proper spelling. Highly recommend for any true crime fan though!

12 minutes in and we’re just beginning the story. Yikes!

I don’t live in America so none of the ads are relevant to me. I wish these could be taken out like other podcasts do, instead of having to skip through so much of the podcast

I’ve been listening to you, Paul and Kate for a while now and I ABSOLUTELY LOVE YOU BOTH!! I love the scientific details you give, Paul. I love anything Kate Winkler Dawson, but I’ve noticed a big increase in the amount and length of ads. It makes these otherwise excellent podcasts harder to listen to, and less enjoyable. Despite Karen and Georgia complaining about “capitalism,” they seem to be ok with raking it in!
NoelS89 via Apple Podcasts · Canada · 09/24/24
The hosts’ backgrounds compliment each other’s strengths. Interesting and informative work, thank you for the professionalism shown victims and their families

The ads have gotten outrageous. Can’t listen anymore, it’s driving me crazy. Obviously you need ads to make money but this is absurd. It’s like every 7 minutes. Worse than cable TV!
Lebarnes4 via Apple Podcasts · United States of America · 09/20/24
I love the different perspective approaches of Paul and Kate are wonderful! But there’s very little speculation without basis, a modern forensic approach to historical crime. Love their voices and conversations, always on my podcast roster.
kylienm via Apple Podcasts · United States of America · 09/19/24
Why? Because I’m pretty sure Paul dislikes Kate in such a beautifully passive aggressive way that I want to be here for the inevitable explosion (with popcorn at hand.) But for real, the ads. Like, how bad is business for exactly right for there to be THIS many ads?!
HeyHelloKaren via Apple Podcasts · United States of America · 09/18/24
I love both of their voices. Together, I feel like I’m listening to 2 trustworthy, genuine people who would be nice to me LOL. For that reason, I especially like to listen to this podcast while working. Brings down my stress level! I also just love historical true crime. Show is well done;...Read full review »

I came back. Love the show but cut so many ads please. Read Anne Rules books. They are excellent. I have every book and have the last two volumes to read and read all the rest. Enjoy your back/forth with Paul. I have and read his book too

Great show but Ive been listening less as I can’t understand why the show has so many more ad breaks than other podcasts. Understand the need for ads but wish they could consolidate the breaks as they’re interrupting the story

This was my favourite show, I had a couple months off and suddenly there’s ads literally every five minutes it’s driving me nuts… really disappointed the quality seems to have dropped and they’ve sold out 🥲

This show is great. I love the content, the stories are engaging and Paul Holes never fails. The try hard witty banter led by Kate is pretty cringey sometimes. Is it just me or does there seem to be 100 ads per episode now?! I tried to listen to the latest and gave up a third of the way through because there were so many stinking ads!

Am I the only one triggered when Paul talks about a 150 pound woman as being heavy and overweight?
Kalina bo-bina via Apple Podcasts · United States of America · 08/31/24
Never the best podcast and full of inaccuracies but the ads and pointless banter do a great job of frustrating the listener and fill time to hide the fact that the story itself is maybe 20 minutes long. Total cash grab at this point. Paul is too good for this nonsense.
