Here we listen to Alix Sarrouy, an art and culture sociologist, talking to a group of 15 hikers about this experience and his joyous view of life. In a barefoot walk, he invites us to do an introspection, to be mindful and to give time and space for the 5 senses. He talks about the Anthropocene and the need to value and preserve the nature, such as he learned from a native community in Amazonia. It happened in the Caminhadas com Arte initiative on September 27th of 2020 in Monchique. BIOGRAPHY Alix Didier Sarrouy is a musician, performer and sociologist of art and culture. He seeks to explore and understand the interactions between human beings, and also between them and the objects that surround them, be they constructed or natural. He believes in the arts as a collective process and not just as a singular result. THEME We shall be human bodies walking through the nature of Monchique. We will let the five senses take care of the relationships between each other and with the mountains that welcome us on their slopes. The paths will consist of moments of encounter and of escape. From the soles of bare feet feeling the floor, to sky gazing with our chins facing upwards, we will be guided by stories, by reading (con)texts, by crossed looks.
