Before he was the sheriff of New Haven, even before he was embraced, Detective Everett Fry was tasked with resolving a straightforward death in his hometown of Drinkwater, Texas. But with mayoral candidates now turning up drained of blood, Everett has found himself unwittingly swept up into a larger conspiracy, with only the help of fresh-faced officer Nicholas Pike, persistent local reporter Eliza Topps, and one FBI Agent Val Miller.
