No pretense of balance
I listen to this to get an understanding of the conservative view on an issue. I don't fall into the left or right and try to make my mind up based on the facst and the analysis. There is no pretense of balance in this podcast or any attempt to discuss all points of view in a reasoned way. It is clearly one-sided and the research discussed often smacks of confirmation bias. Every now and again, you will hear the interviewer or speakers say: this is what you would need to say if you want to attach this or that policy. Nevertheless, it is a good source of analysis on one side of an issue. You certainly need to listen to other podcasts to get the other side of the story or to hear the counter-research. There is also a large (liberal) sprinkling of buzwords like "liberty" which when used are supposed to tell the reader that if you don't necessarily accept the meesage, you don't believe in freedom (or motherhood). Some conservative thinkers are starting to refer to this habit as another form of political correctness, aimed at shutting down dissent or a more rounded discussion on a topic.Read full review »
