“First of all, 10 minute episodes? Seriously? If this podcast wasn’t so bad I might be more upset about how short the episodes are. The episodes themselves are mostly just a lot of loud beeping and screaming as the main character deals with his situation. It’s hard to tell what’s even happening as events unfold. You can piece it together with other context clues but it’s annoying. With only 10 min per episode you’d think they’d put a bit more emphasis on exposition and dialog to help listeners connect with the characters and understand what’s happening. Then there’s the flashbacks which is just such a lazy device to get your audience to care. The sick child trope is so trite and heavy handed. I’d rather be rooting for the main character for what they’re doing to further the plot than sympathizing with them because of some hackneyed flashbacks. Despite these issues the voice actor does a decent job and the production values are pretty good but these things are not enough to save this grating mess of a podcast.”
