The podcasts weird soft focus on the family
The podcast was stretched in order to fill time, the story could be told in 4 episodes. While Sam Mullins is a good storyteller, his bias towards this family was apparent. The parents were abusing their children by inserting them info cult after cult, introducing them to nonsensical conspiracy theories to the point that they were starving to death. The family felt owed, they did not feel any regret by their con of the people of Vernon. Not a fan of the tone sand messaging set by this podcast.

Like others have mentioned, the first part was interesting but i couldn’t even finish the second half. Once the conspiracy theories and disgusting white privilege of the family entered the scene, dismantling it should’ve been the focus.
