pretty great though this family borders between being interesting and insightful and insufferable. the family's pro-conspiracy approach impacted the children deeply. i went to roan’s page where he posts anti-vax stuff. endless life is silly. they let fear dictate their lives. its not cute. i...Read full review »

An interesting story and really highlights how parents who are, shall we say, not the brightest bulbs in the box, can impact their children in such negative ways. It didn’t need as many episodes though. It felt a bit stretched out.

Intruiging story, very fascinating and captivating. I like the way it’s told in two parts. Excellent podcast host. I wish I could listen to it for the first time again.

Best podcast I’ve listened too in ages! Had me hooked from the first episode and binged to the end!

Pretty lame to be surprised by having to pay after listening to the first episode.

This is a binge worthy podcast. I couldn’t stop listening. Superb storytelling. Because I don’t have to be objective- those parents have manifested these beliefs and behaviors and have (since they are so religious and should understand this concept) reaped what they sowed by instilling distrust...Read full review »

Annoying that the first episode is available and then you have to pay for the rest. I already pay for Spotify/Apple so definitely not paying for Binge +

I hate when a narrator tells me everything to think. The parts 1-4 were captivating and I told my friend to listen. Then after that I’m just like shut up! I quit.

This story was heart wrenching. Thank you for getting Kyle and Roen on tape. When you hear their side of the story, you can see the why of what they did. Two boys doing what they thought they needed to do. Incredible reporting, and beautifully put together.

The first half of the story is worth listening. The boys stories told through the town was compelling. The story told from the families side was over the top absurd. The mother is a looney tune. The brothers giggle about the story like little kids remembering a night they camped out in the...Read full review »

Fantastic podcast and well told story, but god damn, Tammy is a freaking saint. The world needs more humans like her.

Not what I expected from a podcast under “true crime”, but very well received! You can get a little burnt out on the murder mystery podcasts, so it was refreshing to hear a mystery with many twists and turns but with a lighthearted ending about community. Well done!

Absolutely captivating storytelling. Completely amazed at the people who made this! It must’ve taken so much work and I absolutely loved it. Thank you and more please! 👏

This is the first “wow” series I’ve found in a while, it tells such a unique, sad, but ultimately very human story in a really compelling and fair way. Going from part 1 to part 2 is such a lesson in things not always being as they seem in ways you would never expect. Really great podcast. Total...Read full review »

It’s a great story, but Sam overdoes it a bit, pointing as much or more to his own delivery as to the story itself. That’s not just annoying from a social perspective; it’s also really hard on the ears! Not EVERY sentence should be “Whoah….. heavy…”

Just finished listening to Wild Boys. I also grew up in Vernon just a block away from the yellow hostel. I moved away before the bush boys landed in Vernon but remember hearing about them. Sam did such a beautiful job of painting Vernon’s character and I could absolutely picture every interaction...Read full review »

Just finished listening to Wild Boys (Season 3 of Chameleon” and am in tears. What a gripping, twisty tale! I was confused when we seemed to get to the “end” of the story after four episodes — and then had my mouth hanging open for most of the following episodes! Sam Mullins is such an insightful...Read full review »

A moving and compelling story about the bond between two brothers. The final episodes completely make sense of the whole sad true reasons for their plight and presented them in a non judgemental and considerate manner. I am so glad the family finally got to tell their tale. Great podcast!

Wow what a great series, I was hooked from the very beginning right to the end. Even though the story of what happened had finished being thoroughly told by the end of episode 4, it’s at that point we know there’s definitely more to the story. The last episodes pull it all together with...Read full review »

Great story.Sadly the reporter of this story tends to show his communistic leanings which spoils it just a tad. A lot of so-called conspiracies have shown to be the actual truth. But the reporter as with the majority of MSM are communists.

Enjoyed the first half, but had a hard time listening to the second. I really dislike this family and it’s clear they created their own stories about “the system” that are not challenged at all. I would have appreciated even a few critical points by the podcaster, especially given how much of our...Read full review »

This is done very well. The narrator did a fantastic job of showing the boys’ sides as well as the town’s. I loved the linear storytelling, as some podcasts I have listened to lately don’t seem to take the time to get the full layout of the story. I loved this podcast but I reckon the whole family, or at least the ones we heard from have serious and ongoing mental health issues. I want to say a bunch of wackos but that would be politically incorrect wouldn’t it.

Sam Mullins and his team have put together an excellent telling of the story behind the Vernon Wild Boys. Thoroughly enjoyed the binge. Production was slightly marred by repeated portions of audio throughout.

The hero of this story is Tammy. Could have told it from her perspective: how a kind and compassionate person gets sucked in by grifters and frauds.
