“I really like this podcast. This podcast is a great resource in understanding how to find truth, how to think about the past and how to evaluate historical text, witnesses, and context. I loved their insights into how scripture is canonized and the fallible role that man has played in conveying the thoughts and ideas of God into human language. If you are a member of the church wanting a better understanding of controversial church history subjects for yourself or to share with a loved one, this is the place. If you are a disaffected member or truth seeker who is struggling with unanswered doctrinal or historical questions for which you have received no satisfying answers and yet are feeling the pull of a loving Father back into the fold of Jesus Christ, this podcast is for you to help you know how to start over and rebuild a testimony from the ground up. I believe that it is time to start talking in the church and in our families about things like polygamy, the priesthood ban on Blacks, the book of Abraham and other difficult subjects related to the restoration of the fulness of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. We must begin inoculating our members against the attacks of the father of lies whose goal it is to make all men as miserable as he is. This can be done “by study and by faith.” We need more study, not less into these difficult historical faith obstacles, a true deep dive that will provide the true context and information needed to parse truth from error. It’s time we call a spade a spade and stop referring to messages that are designed to derail individuals from the covenant path as “anti-Mormon literature” and call them what they are: Anti-Christian literature, authored by both those who knowingly serve and unwittingly serve the master deceiver. We need to help people understand that you don’t have to accept the doctrines of the Gospel on blind faith and that you don’t have to believe anything that isn’t true in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Serious truth seekers start here with the Church History Matters podcast!”
