As I walked through the Kroger at 9pm on a Saturday...
I heard Adnan go through an extended break down of New York, New York. I last watched New York, New York my freshman year of college as a two part lesson on Scorsese. (The first part was watching Raging Bull and then comparing the aesthetics of both.) In short, I wasn't impressed with New York, New York. None of us were. How could you be when you're immediately coming off Raging Bull? Then again, we were 18 and our professor didn't help the cause by pointing out only the negative aspects of "Marty's choice." Here's where Adnan and Cinephile come in. It might be easy to write him off as a blinded Scorsese fan, but that is terribly underserving. It's easy to list off in bullet points how a movie like Raging Bull is brilliant because, well, it is. What makes a film reviewer, host, critic, scholar, whatever you want to call it, great is finding the hidden gems in a films that are not as well received. That's what Adnan did with New York, New York, and it really made me rethink the film in a more positive light based on what he had to say. When you get to this episode in the podcast, you'll know why. Great reviews of films past and present. Cannot recommend it enough.Read full review »

Adnan does a very entertaining show, mixing reviews, stories, interviews and creativity (best part of the show is a segment called 3 Words). Bonus points if you like Martin Scorsese. Worth a listen.
