Insightful and Thought Provoking
I've been listening to Adnan Virk for years on ESPN, and I'm happy that he now has a podcast. I'm a big fan of old Hollywood musicals and comedies, so I feel the podcast opens me up to trying other films. I was disappointed that on the last podcast Mr. Virk didn't mention the death of Robert Osborne, in my opionion the ultimate cinephile. I grew up outside of Hays, KS, and our cable expanded to include TCM in the late 1990's. Thanks to Mr. OsborneI learned more movie trivia about classic films than a normal teenager should. I also appreciate how open Mr. Virk is about his movie preferences, he's said that musicals are really his thing, but I would strongly suggest giving "Singing in the Rain" a try if you haven't seen it. The story may seem light, but it can be considered an examination of the problems some actors had going from silent films to talkies. And if nothing else you have to appreciate Donald O'Connor's rendition of "Make 'em Laugh." Easily one of the top five numbers of all time.Read full review »
