Description
🎙️Welcome to episode 9 of CTRH Podcast, where we have real conversations intended to make an actual difference. Today I am joined by the extraordinary Mwari Muthaura, a respected psychotherapist based here in Nairobi. Together we begin to peel the layers off an issue that has alarmingly become almost common place in our society. In this episode we discuss sexual violence and sexual trauma & how we have recently seemingly opted to focus our energies towards shaming victims & survivors instead of coming together to curb these crimes. With a significant rise in the number of reported cases since Covid, and a notable rise in male victims as well as female, I felt it necessary for us to hold space for what will be the first of several conversations around this topic. This is understandably a very sensitive topic & I would like to issue a trigger warning for anyone who has experienced any type of sexual violence. Our intention is to inform and empower by sharing professional perspectives together with tools and resources available to survivors specifically in our Kenyan context. Mwari is an American trained certified Psychotherapist working both in private practice as well as in the corporate space. She is also very artistic & creates her own line of gorgeous jewellery.
