Description
🎙️Welcome back for episode 12 of CTRH Podcast, where we have real conversations intended to make an actual difference. Today I have a special episode for you in commemoration of World AIDS Day. My guest today is someone I have a lot of respect for after working with him previously & watching just how bravely he lives his truth & champions for change as a young person living with HIV in Kenya. Ruele Okeyo is the very definition of a change-maker. He’s commitment to living positively & his advocacy work irl & online has already made a huge impact on other young people living with HIV as well as helping drive awareness and push for an end to HIV/AIDS stigma. At 26 years old, Ruele has already achieved a sense of self-awareness and acceptance that many of us can only aspire towards. He is a HIV champion, an advocate for Human Rights & the director of Keneth & Jacob’s House, an NGO founded in 2020 that offers emergency rescue services, temporary, transitional housing and care, psychosocial support, advocacy, and social life skills to LGBTQ runaways and homeless youth. He also hosts the very informative Sex-Ed by Ruele-ations Podcast. In this episode we discuss his journey after receiving a HIV diagnosis, his work in advocacy & the impact he is having through his viral videos normalizing taking your ARVs on TikTok & Instagram. We also discuss how the community can better support young people living with HIV as well as help prevent new infections from occurring, in keeping with this year’s World AIDS Day theme, “Let communities lead.” All in all a transformative episode packed full of amazing insights and absolute gems from a very intelligent young man.
