A challenge and satisfaction for the mind
From "without further ado, let ... me... tell... you ... a .. story" to "I bid you adieu" I am in awe of Kate Baker's reading of science fiction/fantasy stories that is Clarkesville magazine. I find the stories exciting, or thought provoking, sometimes puzzling, but never boring. And her reading is "spot-on" painting a picture as she gifts us with her rendition. Even when I find myself disagreeing with the character or theme, it provides a way to explore the author's work in a way that leads me to read more of them. Thanks Kate! (your april-fool "I'm leaving Clarkesworld" was a classic!)Read full review »

This podcast is lovely in every way. The stories are beautiful and thoughtful and they are wonderfully narrated through the mellifluous voice of Kate Baker. I have never noticed a single audio issue so long as I have listened.

Clarkesworld Magazine offers for free some of the best Science Fiction short stories out there. Having been awarded a Hugo the quality speaks for itself. From these podcasts I would recommend the ones read by Kate Baker. Her voice is soothing and rich, and she brings much emotion into the works.

I was browsing iTunes to add to my listening dance card and came across Clarkesworld and the lithe narration of Kate Baker. What a gem. I have a new favorite podcast.
