This show is fantastic and should be much more popular and mainstream so that everyone can discuss the energy transition with knowledge rather than emotion

The episode on meat by Bryony Worthington is not fun too listen to as Bryony is more interested about giving her opinion then to listen and learn.

The strength of "Cleaning Up" lies in its content-rich episodes that delve into various aspects of the energy transition and climate action. Each episode features a different guest, ranging from policymakers and entrepreneurs to scientists and activists. The discussions are thorough and...Read full review »

I love the comments that essential refute the boosters that it’s physics that makes hydrogen hard. Not lack of effort or money. Just physics!

Cleaning Up used to be my favourite podcast, and I have religiously listened to every episode for years. Unfortunately I am not a fan of the new format, and personally feel that Byrony’s interview style is not as effective as before. I feel it would be preferable if Byrony asked more probing...Read full review »

This guy makes sense of how the world is not doomed, and how relatively easy it is to actually save it. So worth listening! This gives me hope and arguments for conversations

Cleaning up is distinguished from many other climate/energy podcasts by the breadth and quality of the guests and the depth of the conversations. I follow the topics closely and still regularly find people, solutions and insights I haven’t seen before via this show. 👍

Michael and his guests (both as hosts and regular guests) offer incredible insight and cover a huge range of topics in this hugely important field. Michael is firm in his beliefs and isn’t afraid to challenge his interviewees - something a lot of other shows seem to shy away from, with hosts just...Read full review »

Good podcast, with a capitalist point of view on the energy transition. The host is a bit full of himself and is known to believe that Brexit is a good thing (which everyone on Earth knew and now knows that this isn’t the case). However, I feel that Michael’s podcast stands as a necessary and...Read full review »

Great podcast with superb guests, who get an incisive grilling. More please!

I came to this podcast to learn more about Mariana Mazzucato’s thinking and this guy would not stop interrupting and talking over her. He continuously critiques her thinking and then doesn’t give her a chance to make a proper counter point. I eventually gave up listening. Take a breather Mike!

This podcast is an important part of my deep dive education on the intricacies of the clean energy transition.

Very little support for extreme arguments

Lots of podcasts out there on the topic, but if i had to pick only one i’d go with Cleaning Up. Michael has a deep grasp of the field, is a clear communicator, and frankly a good podcast host i find. He doesn’t forget his audience and makes sure we can all follow along when guests go a bit too...Read full review »

Michael always have interesting guests, and being well prepared he aren’t afraid of asking the hard questions, well worth a listen.

Sensible, intelligent and (usually) entertaining people engaged in finding solutions to the climate crisis we have got ourselves into. A must listen for the climate catastrophists (if that’s a thing?)

This is my favourite podcast ! Strikes a great balance between subject knowledge and big picture views, easy to follow for non-energy experts. What I love most is the combination of high profile interviewees/ experts views and Michael’s background knowledge, allowing him to challenge what is said...Read full review »

It’s evident that Michael puts extraordinary effort into every single episode of Cleaning Up. The conversations he leads are compelling, educational, and incredibly inspiring. Liebreich somehow gets some great guests, but rather than milk them for information, he prefers the sound of his own voice.

He is in love with the sound of his own voice.
wayneshorter22 via Apple Podcasts · United States of America · 03/07/22
I appreciate that Michael invites guests that he might not necessarily agree with on everything (e.g. Mariana Mazzucato / Tony Abbot to take 2 very different examples) and debates them, often going into specific details. He’s certainly not one for platitudes!
Alpmofo via Apple Podcasts · Great Britain · 02/07/22
Top draw guests (save one odious former Aus PM) plus Michael’s obvious expertise and a wealth of super important topics combine for an excellent series. Finds a good balance between recognising unchecked emissions present existential risk but rebuffing outright alarmist doomism, which is helpful...Read full review »

One of my favourite podcasts in the energy and environment space. As an energy professional, passionately committed to the fight against climate change, I’ve yet to hear an episode that hasn’t been fascinating and insightful. Great insight into the energy transition. Michael is an energy expert that brings great guests that are world leaders in their field.

Michael is a fantastic host with a very interesting and diverse background. He has relatively frequent releases at the moment where he (virtually) sits down with equally (or more) interesting people than himself and delves into a variety of topics around renewable energy and sustainability.

Michael Liebreich knows a lot about energy and he knows lots of people who know lots about sustainability. Great discussions full of practical solutions - thoroughly recommend this.
