“Three thoughts…
1. This is instantly my favorite podcast.
2. Your analysis of films that are dumb (but we love) should be a regular segment for guests who want to play that game. It’s truly an instant winner of a segment and you can move away from it if the guest isn’t into it. It doesn’t have to be a formal segment but a casual intro like, “You know Jane, I always like to ask my guests about movies they love that…”. That would be a nice seemless way to give the audience a topic they like that can splinter of into any number of other topics. And it’s easy to come back to later. It worked great with Quentin and it may not work with every guest but I wish you would consider it. All audience members like movies and it’s fun to hear people casually analyze them.
3. So glad to hear you discuss the lure of silent films. The originals are back in fashion among some audiences and it’s cool to hear you discuss them with a guy like Quentin
(This is not something you should do all the time like in comment #2, but I really enjoyed it.)
One other note: don’t assume that everyone who listens knows about your personality. With guests like Quentin, many listeners will show up just for that name. So if you’re looking to broaden your audience, it would be a good idea to try to mention in the first 5/10 minutes that you enjoy this as a break from your regular shows (stand up and real time) so that people know you’re mostly a serious guy who likes adult topics. You seem to have done this in the first two episodes but I don’t know if it was intentional. I think it would be a good idea to keep this up.”
