“I am a long time listener, reader, viewer, and fan of all things B Maher. I loved the new podcast and Shatner was brilliant.
But come on Bill, I know the latest thing is monetizing podcasts. Do you really have to do it with yours? How much can you possibly be making from those ads to make it worthwhile to lower the quality of the show to the level of the products that are being hawked? You don’t sound comfortable or enthusiastic reading the ad copy and it sites detracts from the invigorating flow of conversation between you and your guests.
I host two Podcasts that I pay for myself. For less than $50 a month, I am able to provide podcasts to my hundreds of thousands listeners. Nothing I do in these podcasts affected or influenced by ulterior monetary motives. I allow no advertising and state that clearly in every podcast episode (I‘ve done 75 hour-long podcasts). I control all content without worrying about the number of followers or subscribers. Frankly, those overbearing concerns for eyeballs instead of content is quite distracting and would cheapen the show significantly.
I love your work Bill,But shilling for fractions of a penny per thousand views really detracts from the overall brilliance of your show. How’s about eating the minimal cost of producing a podcast and “gift” your talents to a whole new range of liberals who’ve never listened to your podcast, or any podcast for that matter?
