Great storytelling— what really happened in country music history.
Country music is nothing if not diverse and innovative, two things a lot of folks might imagine to be the opposite of the genre. But the sound has always evolved at a pretty fast pace, taking on cultural influences along the way so the music reflects the times when you look, and listen, back. And country music artists were a colorful and talented batch of DIYers before the term was coined. With no rules really governing what they could do, anything could happen. This podcast backs up the big stories with the small, unseen human details that made them happen, and connects the music to the culture of the time, all from a modern point of view. A recommended listen!

The science at the beginning of the Louvin piece has some mistakes. (The mist above a water wave has nothing to do with overtones.) The Texas...Read full review »
