Meh...
But then my expectations were kind of low. At least for the first show. I expect that this isn't the show for me because I am black and pretty jaded when it comes to efforts like this. I know that it is hard for white people to talk about being white, unless they are virulent racists, then they can go on about it forever. I didn't care to have statments they were making qualified so many times before they made the statement. At the end of the show, I don't feel like I was able to take anything away from it. I imagine that there are people who are able to take something away from this effort, and I am kinda sure that they are mostly white people. I am going to try and listen to a few more shows, despite the annoyance I find in the sound of their voices. If they read these reviews, I want them to know I am not some gung-ho, hotep type or someone who is hyperblack or anti-white. I'm not. I know it is a struggle to even recognize racial issues, and twice that to talk about them. I accept that it is some line to walk to not offend listeners as you try to put ideas out there that may challenge the way they see or don't see the world. Go and talk to people at NPR who have pretty much done their work and continue to do so,like Brook Gladstone at WNYC or even Terry Gross of WHYY.Read full review »

I was so hopeful about this podcast, but after listening to it I am disappointed... There is no depth, just simple conversations that we've all had/heard before.Read full review »
