Excellent communicative beginner program
As an experienced teacher of EFL and an experienced learner of Spanish I am impressed by how this podcast integrates the principles of communicative language teaching (in layman's terms, grammar is presented in the context of real life communicative situations instead of the wrote conjugation drills we remember from high school) with the realistic needs of beginners, especially those with time constrants. While most research shows that total immersion is the most effective way to learn a language, in my experience many beginners are overwhelmed and confused by courses conducted entirely in their L2 (causing them to despair and quit) and judicious use of explanations in L1 (in this case English) like the ones in this podcast, are helpful in nursing beginners along until they have enough vocabulary to let go of the L1 safety net.Read full review »
