Old School fan of the Collision keep doing the Podcast thing
Matt and Adam I sincerely appreciate the hard work that y'all put in entertaining us. Your podcast is insightful and is a must listen for anyone with a passion for film. Keep up the good work that being said I have a bone to pick with all the praise that Ladybird has been given. I cannot in good conscience abide by alll the adulation that it has received. I might be the only one who feels this way but to me, Greta Gerwig is just Lena Dunham with better PR. Ladybird is thoroughly adequate from the acting and writing and the visuals but I shudder to think how it could possibly be considered a better film in 2017 than Baby Driver, Blade Runner 2049, Three Billboards or Hell i'd go to bat for Mother! I've seen too many white feminist coastal critics praise it saying things like "omg it spoke to me this is truly the work of a genius auteur." Ladybird so throughly cribs from Noah Baumbach's previous efforts like Greenberg ( Gerwig was in that) that I think it's a valid criticism that ultimately gets shot down as an accusation of misogyny. Look I've never seen a Bigelow or Sofia Coppolla film and thought man they basically wholesale took the ideas, story beats, or visual cues from Cameron and Jonze respectively. Ladybird is as insufferable as Juno and Daria. One way the film could have been improved is if Gerwig would have flipped the mother daughters into P.O.Cs specifically Asian American and the dynamic would have made more sense. It becomes much more understandble if Laurie Metcalfe's character is a Tiger Mom whose disdain for her daughter Ladybird is a direct result of her daughter's absolute entitlement and lack of interest in her studies. As it stands Ladybird has a real shot at best picture and to think that we would follow up last years winner of a story about the life of a gay black man in Miami to a thoroughly mediocre treatise on the unexceptional white femisim of early 00s Sacramento would be an absolute shame. My pick? Get Out was a huge hit commercially and critically and deserves the top prize come 2018.Read full review »

More reviews of Collider Witching Hour
I’m a fan of Collider and most of the content they produce. This podcast is a neat supplement to Movie Talk and Heroes, and I appreciate hearing new voices and opinions apart from the regular YouTube crew. However, the less-than-ideal audio quality makes for a mixed experience. For instance, the...Read full review »

I really enjoy Matt and Adam’s banter, but I also like listening to people discuss films even if their opinion are different from my own. Matt in particular can be harsh about films/TV he dislikes, so if you are very sensitive and only want to hear people who agree with you, be wary. Aside from...Read full review »

They focus on the negatives films have, or spin off things those films did well as negative because they personally didn't like it. These guys are critical to the point where I'm not sure if they like any films. The hosts are boring. They speak in a monotone voice and aren't...Read full review »
