Great, informative, entertaining film podcast in a crowded market
I am a big fan of the podcast, love to hear these guys give their well-informed opinions on films and the current industry news. As a film student, I appreciate that these guys are at once fans of film and pop culture while also being knowledgeable and critical. HOT TAKE: I have two hot takes for you guys. First, Accepted is the best comedy of the 2000s. With great early performances by both Blake Lively and Jonah Hill, Justin Long's surprising performance as a charming leading man, Lewis Black dropping a handful of very quotable lines, and an array of entertaining side characters (Abernathy and Glenn leading that group), Accepted is a joyful movie that has been way overlooked. And who doesn't get worked up during the climactic speech?? Second, after just watching Wind River, I think the American Frontier Trilogy is the best thematic trilogy by a filmmaker, better even than Edgar Wright's Cornetto Trilogy. These films are beautiful, haunting, and contain some of the greatest performances of the past three years. I'd argue that all three of the films deserve(d) to be considered in the best picture conversation of their respective years.Read full review »
