“Before I listened to this podcast trees were just greenery on a stick. I knew a couple trees specifically, like Redwood, Sequoia, Joshua, (seriously, if there wasn’t a park named after the tree, I had a 2% chance of knowing) but if you asked me what the difference was between a tree of heaven and a fruitless peach tree, I would just look at you like you were asking me to explain why this group of 1s and 0s is a song and this group of 1s and 0s is a digital book, but only by showing me the 1s and 0s. I truly cannot tell you how completely blind I was to trees. I always kinda thought it was cool when people could identify a tree, but it was like speaking Mandarin— they could just be telling me nonsense that sounds vaguely correct-ish and I’m still impressed. Then I listened to Little Yo Pod and the 2 episodes on trees had me so amazed that I wanted to know more about trees. That’s when I found this. Within a few months of binging this podcast trees are more vibrant. I can see things about them I never did. My mom told me that when she was a kid she didn’t know trees had leaves until she wore glasses— it’s like that. I didn’t know enough about trees to actually appreciate them. Now trees are just beautiful and impressive and I keep talking about them excitedly to people and they all think I’m smart and crazy and loved trees my whole life, but I’m only half way through this podcast. Wandering around and looking at trees has become so fun. Also, “what is your favorite tree” is THE BEST icebreaker. Thank you Casey and Alex, you have changed my life and made the world 100x more beautiful and exciting.”
