Would love to learn from you about Russia/Ukraine conflict. My family comes from L’Viv but back when it was part of the Kingdom of Galicia, then it was Austria Hungary, then Poland. Is that Galicia the same as Galicia Spain?

I look at life through an entirely different lens and see this complex world in a whole new way. Zach Cornwall brilliantly tells a story without interjecting opinion. He beautifully lets history unfold in front of the listener to the point of being able to almost visualize what he is conveying....Read full review »

Brought here through trying to work out why my pal loves bullfighting. This series plies into the difficult aspects of history and shows respect to each side of the debate. I am so grateful this podcast exists, not just to help me “know my enemy” but to be more compassionate to those I disagree...Read full review »

I just finished the 4 episodes of Ghosts In The Mountains, about the history of Afghanistan. I’m so impressed by the depth of his research and knowledge, and how he artfully narrates it. It’s all like a beautiful but deeply tragic story. I can’t wait to listen to more episodes. Thank you for...Read full review »

I’m a history buff and this is the best podcast I have found. With Covid I started listening more often and this one brings information I did not know. An amazingly detailed and well written podcast - quite possibly the most in depth and well delivered history podcast out there! It is the closest podcast to an academic history book, but also grips the listener due to the excellent delivery from the host. If I could give 6 stars, I would!

There are topics I have been avoiding like the plague because they seem too complicated. As a millenial Swede, The Vietnam War was barely covered in my history class, along with some of the other subjects Conflicted has made episodes about. If you want to just escape reality and want to relive history then give this podcast a listen. Zach Cornwell, to me, is a great orator who does he’s research and elaborate very well on his topic. So far the Ghost in The Mountains series is my favorite and I think a great podcast to listen to.

First off I’ll just say that this podcast is brilliant. Every piece of information is referenced and more often than not you’re getting a multiple episode deep-dive on each topic. The host reminds me of a younger version of Dan Carlin, I don’t think you can get a higher honour than that.

This podcast purports to examine history with a neutral eye and unpack the “tough ethical dilemmas” for the audience in a balanced way.
