“If the term “Conspirituality” makes instant intuitive sense to you and answers a question about red flags for a disturbing trend you were noticing in the wellness space, this podcast is for you! Thank you to the creators for doing this work and connecting all the dots for me! I don’t feel so crazy now. I live in Hawai’i, adjacent to the wellness and “conscious” spiritual crowd. When the pandemic started I noticed things got really weird. I majored in political science and was already well aware of the horrific growing influence of the alt right, QAnon, Alex Jones, Prager U, etc. At least I thought I was. I was prepared for alt right conspiracy theories to spread even more during the pandemic but I was totally caught off guard by the enthusiastic adoption of right wing conspiracy theories by socially liberal new agers. I was shocked and felt angry and betrayed when I first read The Coronation. It all makes more sense now that I understand more about this pattern from your team’s analysis. Your work is helping me understand what is happening, the historical context, and process the psychological distress that I have been experiencing as I lose some friendships and am continually appalled by the dangerous anti-mask, anti-science, anti-left, anti-black (!!!) misinformation and behavior these people are exhibiting and endorsing. As I became more involved in Black Lives Matter I also became educated about racism within the wellness community. This was reinforced by my friends who actively criticized BLM. I was naive about all of this but am catching up quickly. This whole paradigm shift has inspired me to go back to school and study communications and journalism. Thanks again for doing this work and sharing your life experience.”
