“Amy's accent is fine for us non-native French speakers. In college, I had a teacher with the accent of a chauvinistic Parisian. When in France, I always tried to emulate that "pure" accent and probably sounded very foolish. Recently, I took a refresher course with a French Canadian. (Not the purest of French regional accents to be sure) I was advised by this very practical tutor, "We'll NEVER speak like Parisians no matter how hard we try. Just concentrate on your vocabulary, get your verbs under control you'll get along just fine." I found this to be good advice. I love traveling in France and trying to converse in their beautiful language. And on my last trip, not a single French person said to me, "Why don't we just speak English?" I count that as some sort of success.”
