This was one of the best cricket podcasts going. Now the presenters are gone, replaced by a robot-voiced script rehashing old news and providing nothing new or insightful. If you’re going to completely change a podcast, give it a new name so you’re not ruining the brand and legacy of the older,...Read full review »

Loved Pete and Gideon - now this is just filled with short episodes that I’ve not signed up to.
Richieb34 via Apple Podcasts · Great Britain · 12/08/23
This was previously a 5 star podcast with a devoted subscriber following. With the greatest respect to the journalists responsible for the content uploaded to this podcast since Gideon Haigh resigned, it’s an embarrassing shadow of the informed cricket commentary for which listeners to this...Read full review »

Gideon and Pete were an absolute pleasure to listen to. Insightful and intelligent. Wonderful communicators. Easily the best cricket podcast around. I’ll stay subscribed for another week or two in the hope the Australian rethinks and allows the proper podcast to continue but this current feed is...Read full review »

I sought out Cricket etc for two of the best cricket journalists whose ideas and insights I thoroughly enjoy. I am surprised you would allow the current stealth insertion of an entirely different show. A little unprincipled chaps.

What’s happened to Pete and Gideon? Another plot from the BCCI? Or the Murdochs?
Grant Russ via Apple Podcasts · Australia · 11/21/23
The original episodes with Lalor and Haigh were great. The feed is now filled with episodes of “journalists” with little to no knowledge of the game.

This is no longer Peter and Gideon. Unfollow immediately

Loved the podcast and will miss it. Thanks for all the shows. Not sure what I will listen to now on my walks. I have a lot of cricket pods I like, but yours is far and a away my favourite. Any chance your pod until at least the end of the World Cup? Missing you already. Had I known what was...Read full review »

Gents, really enjoyed your coverage of the Ashes. The best informed and articulated of the numerous pods on the tour. Also, the Greg Chappell feature was fascinating, as was the Brearley piece. More of these please!

Best cricket pod around, have really enjoyed through the Ashes. Lalor a bit sour at times but it works. Great double act

Whimsical and wonderful. A triumph.

Have been a huge fan of the podcast. The recording/sound quality of the latest podcast is a bit of a joke. I wonder why this podcast was put up. It is really bad. Doesn’t anyone check this before putting it up?

Peter and Gideon provide an insightful overview of the ashes tour from every possible angle and well beyond the cricket ground. Thoroughly enjoying the daily reports from the centre of the cricket universe which are always delivered with a light touch.👍

I don’t know if I love the cricket or the etcetera part of this Pod more!! Keep up the great work Pete & Gideon 👍

This podcast is a must for cricket fans - especially during the current Ashes series. Sure, they’re Aussies, but their even handed views and dry humour are great to hear. Add them to their enjoyment of the back alleys of Leeds and it’s a winner.

Great cricket podcast, with the perfect amount of Aussie one-eyedness

The first pod I look for. Great insights to the game, balance in the insights and a healthy blend of humor. Also learned a few things about music, but that’s not too tough… Thank you Gideon and Peter for all you bring to cricket fans globally.

One of the best cricket podcasts out there, hosted by two of the best cricket writers. Unique perspectives with lots of history and stories from all over the world. The etcetera is the icing on the cake.

All this program’s pods should be recorded in restaurants. English outrage? Yes! Crispy noodles and chilli? Yes!!! Ooh, miss can I please have a glass of water.

I’m a long time fan of these guys and their writing, and this podcast represents everything that is so good about them. They are articulate, Knowledgeable, self depreciating and bounce off each other so well. Essential listening, especially when the Ashes is on!

I love your podcast and hearing your cricket analysis, music recommendations and travel experiences. My favourite podcast ever from two great cricket writers!

Great podcast from two of the best cricket observers in Australia.

Lalor and Haigh are the Clarke and Dawe of cricket. Cricket, travelogues, craft beer, coffee and ephemera.
Wangabri via Apple Podcasts · Australia · 03/04/23
Surprisingly free of specific cricket critique. Peripheral discussion is nonetheless interesting. Play on for now.

They have zero interest in the BBL and seem to actively work against it, despite the fact that crowds and tv audiences are way up. T20 cricket is the future whether we like it or not. Read the room, otherwise you’ll be left behind
Canny1000 via Apple Podcasts · Australia · 02/01/23
I find it mostly entertaining but they seem a bit over cricket. Their hatred of pink ball tests show how eventually most sports media figures eventually become detached from the punters.

How is it 2023 and I have only just stumbled across this podcast? Two of the worlds most extraordinary cricket writers, in conversation, for all of us to listen to and savour. What a treat.

Loves the Rick Darling episode. Still can’t decide during that era whether he or Greame Wood was the worst runner between wickets.
sukaymiller via Apple Podcasts · Australia · 12/17/22
A haven in the increasingly hyperbolic and clique-ridden world of cricket journalism. Eloquent, analytical, appropriately detached and journalistic, this pair have a clear love of the game and convey this conversationally and engagingly. Thanks guys.

Love the pod guys - the cricket, life, music, everything.
Timothy W C via Apple Podcasts · Australia · 07/23/22
Love the cricket material guys. Not going to lie though I haven’t finished an episode in a long time. As soon as the music musing begins I switch off. Maybe you need to start a separate full length pod for your other passion..

I love this podcast , erudite and interesting while still being down to earth and Peter and Gideons love of cricket shines through . But most of all well done for all your work in extricating the Afghan journalist from Afghanistan 🇦🇫, immensely kind 😊

Excellent podcast, just wish it didn’t come with the wisdom of the Newscorp school of epidemiology every time anything slightly covid related comes up

Five star rating all the way. Great cricket chat from two of the best in the business. Their repartee is scintillating, reminds me of the rambling but always engaging ABC and BBC radio commentary. Fantastic. Thoroughly disagree that these should be shorter (whoever suggested that?) and an...Read full review »
