This podcast is a treat and empowers me to be a better steward of the land. I love the range of topics and the meandering trains of thought.

Please stop interrupting the guest. Let them finish their thought without trying to explain for them. If something is left unexplained, ask a follow up question later. Start the interview general and move towards more specifics so we can learn more about who the guest is and get an overview of...Read full review »

Can you please have on Dan Hosage way more often! As a Texan I can hear him talk for hours, and he’s right up your alley in the dark humor 😂

One of my favourite podcasts. The discussions are informative, and educational. Even with more complex topics Tony asks questions in such a way as to clarify things so your average citizen scientist can absorb the information, and learn. His views on invasive species and modern culture resonate...Read full review »

You will never stop learning about plants, ecology and geology, and may also develop a finer ability to cuss and stronger analytical skills around our inherently broken society

I’ve been addicted to the you tube channel and just now found the pod cast! Yay!!! Now I look forward to the drive to work!

Sad to see an evolution denier in the field of botany. The double-think is astounding, but makes host untrustworthy as an alleged “science communicator.”

The intellectual content I didn’t know I had been missing. Joey has rekindled my passion for learning. I’ve got stacks of textbooks, field guides, so many downloaded pdf’s, and albums full or plant/environment pictures. Thank you for inspiring me to enjoy something meaningful again!

I found this podcast through the YouTube channel. I have rekindled my passion for botany and other science as well.

I love this podcast, from plants to lichens… it covers a lot of different botanical topics. Always informative, interesting, usually hilarious. The only thing I recommend to change is running ads that are increments of 15 & 30 sec so they are easier to skip thru w the skip button.

im on a pretty miserable trip to the bay area right now and Mr. Crime Pays’s enthusiasm for the nuances of prairie plants is keeping me from having a mental breakdown while i wait for busses by trashstrewn stroads. this show always makes my day but now im extra thankful so i decided to leave a...Read full review »

Tony is like the Bill Burr of botany; down-to-earth, humorous rantings on plant life and modern life.

Up-to-date and engaging, makes me curious. Love to listen to the latest news on botany, excursions, and the interdisciplinary discussions. I like the personal approach and informal tone.

If anyone ever remakes David The Gnome, they should ask Tony to be in it. It is so soothing to hear someone who knows so much about ecology put into words how how obnoxious urban horticultural decisions tend to be. A soothing balm for these trying environmental times. This podcast (and the YT channel) got me into botany, and for that I am grateful. It was the medicine I needed in our current slowpocalypse. Joey has an unrelenting determination to educate himself and others about plants and ecology. He does this while swearing and griping about everything. I...Read full review »

Love the show but so many ads in the newest episode (week of June 13th 2023) it is unlistenable. Literally getting ads every 60 seconds or so. Hopefully it’s just a glitch in this episode.

I wanted to find a podcast episode about legumes, and I found this pod in a search. I pressed play and after the commercials was immediately bombarded with a nonstop stream of F bombs and assorted rantings and ravings about “woke lords.” I gave up after 10 minutes before the advertised guest...Read full review »

When I was growing up this was my Dads opinion he hated lawns, either grow what is in the environment or use that space for food. It’s so refreshing to hear someone else with the exact same point of view.

I have a man crush on Joey, he says and thinks the same things I’ve been thinking for years! I’m obsessed with plants to the point of wondering if I’m autistic, I also have ADHD and love how he just rambles off topic. I share his love of watching bank buildings on fire, comedy, leaving punk rock...Read full review »

Passionate conversations by people who love plants, with a focus on scientific concepts and enough cursing and mischievous humor to help you feel right at home.

Please talk more about little tricks of the trade that you know of. Didn’t know that plants rooted faster in pots until I heard it here! Tried it with some elephant ear bulbs on both the ground and pots and after a couple months the was no question about what option was better.
