“The problem with this podcast is the same as the problem with the Slate one. All the people (with the very mild exception of Toby, and even he claims to be a ‘devil’s advocate') share the same point of view, so it’s not very dynamic. They all think Adnan’s innocent, and they’re all guaranteed to dismiss any evidence to the contrary the moment it’s expressed. The hostess will pose a ridiculously biased question as if it’s objective, along the lines of “How credible is this guys as a witness?” You can usually tell what the answer’s going to be by the form of the question. I’ve listened to a few of the episodes, and I like the fact that these people from NH public radio came up with a much better podcast than the dingbats from Slate, but it would be much, much better if they brought in someone with an intelligent, alternative point of view. As it stands, it’s a real echo chamber for one point of view—we know what the panel is going to say before they say it.
In fact, if you happen to be reading this, hostess lady, you might do another episode with someone who has a strong opinion different from that of you, your husband, and the other woman on the panel. I’m not being snarky, I would really listen to it.”Read full review »
