Fascinating meta-critique
I just discovered this today while searching for a podcast that could satisfy my new addiction to long-form audio journalism. I think the four contributors have done a superb job analyzing Serial from a variety of angles: as story telling, as crime writing, as social phenomenon, and as a new media form. There is so much more to Serial than the story of "Did he or didn’t he?” and that’s what I have found so engrossing. The Serial audience got the opportunity not only to peek behind the curtain at the process, but to comment and influence it in real time. Rebecca and her colleagues offered some great insights in that regard. I certainly hope there will be follow-up episodes as new details emerge, such as the interview Jay just did, which cast new light on both the facts of the case and on the process. (On a side note, as a resident of the Seacoast, I enjoyed the local angle.)Read full review »
