“In a sea of True Crime Podcasts, you want to be the one to stand out… in a good way…
I listened to the Ep on Daniel Morcombe, an Australian tragedy, and one I was familiar with the details, so I could judge whether or not it was a good pod, and worth my time, and listened with a critical ear.
It was abridged, which is fine… it’s a long, and complex story. And mostly she did well. (Obviously omitting many details.)
However… the very telling *LACK* of research into this case was apparent in the extremely annoying mispronunciation of “Brisbane” … (It’s pronounced ‘Brizbun’)
(And *NEVER* BrizBAIN - except by Americans who don’t know anything about geography and/or don’t do a simple google search to hear how it’s *ACTUALLY* pronounced! This is just lazy.
Lazy bit number 2/ The Victim’s surname, “Morcombe” is pronounced “MoreCOM”. (Not MOREcomb). Just listening to The intro to the “CASEFILE Daniel Morcombe” Ep 1 would have given you a heads up. (So would watching a contemporary Australian News Report, 60 minutes Ep, or similar.)
Lazy bit No. 3/ When mentioning Daniel’s parents (no names - google is your friend & also has a direct link to their website!), Bruce and Denise’s coming together and creating The Daniel Morcombe Foundation, to give back to the community who helped them in their time of need. It’s also a non profit for child safety. The presenter said words to the effect of “… they use the colour red… ugh, I’m not sure why it’s important… ahh… there might be some reason… Anyway…”
I used google, Wikipedia, & the direct link to danielmorcombe.com.au and found this:
(It took less than a minute, I swear!)

The red t-shirt Daniel was wearing the day he went missing has become a symbol of child safety awareness. Every year, thousands of people dress up in red for an annual National Day of Action for Child Safety, held on the last Friday in October: Day for Daniel

So if I can do this for an Ep that I know about, that lasted around 30 mins. Why would I trust *ANY* information that this *LAZY* podcast puts out, and calls “True Crime”.
DON’T BOTHER!
