I look forward to this podcast every week. Usual format is to choose 3 current topics/events/people in "culture" (broadly defined, usually NY-based), do a little homework the night before, and chat about each topic for 10 minutes. They go astray if they pick a topic none of them knows/cares much about OR when just one knows/cares and the other 2 have a shallow-negative reaction... e.g., Steve and Julia often seem underwhelmed by a film Dana has liked; Steve claims not to watch TV but that doesn't stop him from dissing it. But on topics they care about, they're great. Steve gets donnish, especially about Enduring Literary Value and the Decadence of Our Age, but Julia's not afraid to call him a grump. The dynamic among the 3 is energetic, funny, and endearing.Read full review »
