“My mom & I used to listen to a show called "Unshackled". It was good - told true stories of people who found the Lord. Then it went off the air, and Dr. Stanley came in. Mom got me to listen to a sermon on Sunday night and I was hooked.
Dr. Stanley gives his messages in plain, simple language. I can relate them to Bible stories I used to read when I was little and with him, I get the backstory as well. I was so thrilled to find that he had the podcasts, I bought another MP3 player so I could listen to them. Not only does he share the Bible story and the message, he adds a personal touch when appropriate. He lets you know that it's OK to be impatient with God - and reminds us of people in the Bible who tried to "help" God when things weren't moving fast enough. Then he tells us how those efforts turned out.
I'm going through some rough times now, and listening to his messages gives me comfort that God is testing me for a reason and reminds me that something wonderful will happen in God's time, not mine.
