“It takes time for anyone to paint you a re-creation of an event in our history that text books, alone, do not contain everything a person needs to know in order to paint that image within their brain. A woman I once worked with in the 1980s described to me her experience of the ‘62 missile crisis like this, “our teacher sent us home to die with our families instead of here at school.” Nowhere have I read what she described to me in detail events of that day until now.
