The subject matter was most timely and is something that most people are very ignorant about. Unfortunately, the presentation was very rushed, cursory, and felt like the host was just “checking a box,” regarding an important aspect of history.

Absolutely love this podcast. Excellent quality. Dan himself is very affable, so I almost feel like I’m doing a mate a favour by giving a very well deserved review.

The Captain Cook episode is a case in point.

Dan’s specials (eg Egypt, Machu Picchu), in particular, are outstanding. The podcast is at its best when Dan is telling an in-depth, thrilling story too - such as the mutiny on the HMS Wager.

Dan Snow brings in academics, often some of the best, to discuss their areas of expertise. He's a thoughtful interviewer and a passionate listener. All of his shows are good, most are very good, and some are superb. It's worth my time and attention.Read full review »

Just listened to the show about Boudica, it’s interesting because it’s history. Just found it annoying that Boudica is almost explained as English, doesn’t really mention that she was Brithonnic (a Celt) and goes on to explain the Romans were away fighting in Wales and had to come back to fight...Read full review »

Currently the best host of any archaeological program or podcast. Knowledgeable, enthusiastic, engaging and not pretentious. Reminds me of a young David Attenborough in a way. As a side note, I wish the new Time Team had used him. They don’t seem to have grasped the fact that to interest a...Read full review »

Meh
Recycled episodes across their other shows. Unapologetic upholding of colonialism.

I can’t be bothered with an explanation but she is terrible and annoying. This is the second podcast I have heard today on different shows that I cannot listen to the end of because of her personality. She is immature who cares about her education.

I got excited when I saw an episode on the Origin of Alexandria. Then soon I heard the same nonsense on Hypatia “the greatest female philosopher of the time”. Arguments for silence, and very poorly researched.
