Imagine being an adult and believing that history and politics have nothing to do with each other

Most podcasts I’ve tried have at least a 1 week trial. This is only 3 days (I thought it was 7 days).

Dan has the very best combination of deep knowledge and almost school kid passion for history in all its era and forms I’ve ever known. Whenever I want to lose myself and learn at the same time, History Hit is where I go. Thank you for all you do to keep the importance and joy of history...Read full review »

On the day Trump gets re-elected you release an episode about QAnon/conspiracy theories? Honestly Dan, this is why people like me have moved to The Rest Is History instead. I occasionally come back to your podcast but if the next 4 years are going to be more of ‘This bad thing in history is just...Read full review »

Boring!!!!!!!! Why do you insist on lowering your podcast to that of political pundits

I was never really into podcasts, but since finding this one I’m a daily listener. I drive a van for work and Dan’s insightful storytelling is a great way to pass the time on longer journeys. I’ve always liked Dan, especially for his WW2 TV documentary’s over the years, and this pod is a great...Read full review »

Why
Way way too many adverts 15 mins of content and 10 mins of adverts?? Such a shame you would think he has enough money rather than keep selling his soul to the ad men.

Chapeau to Dan Snow! I’m a long time listener that has appreciated and enjoyed so many of his podcasts but the recent accounts of the men and stories of Endurance are superb! Shackleton of course, but finally honoring the men behind the headlines, Tom Crean is truly a man’s man. Born without...Read full review »

As a Kerryman in exile from the Kingdom, my heart swelled with pride and I shed tears of gratitude on listening to the Tom Crean story. Thank You for sharing the exploits of this amazing Kerryman

What a delightful podcast! I enjoy a good deep dive into some of history’s most under-appreciated stories. I especially loved hearing about Boudica! Dr. Gillespie really brought her story to life in a knowledgeable and engaging way! I hope there will be more academic women on the show!

This podcast is swiftly becoming a favourite of mine. I find history interesting, generally political history and how these decisions shape our future or in this case the past. There is a good set of subjects and it isn’t all about the war, in fact the one I have just listened to was about...Read full review »

I love the fact that there’s no gratuitous music, forced cackling and lame attempts at humor. His selection of guests is almost unfailingly brilliant. My only suggestion is to please be sure that each guest – regardless of his or her expertise – also speaks in a loud and distinct voice. Otherwise...Read full review »

This podcast interviews experts on each historical topic. Always interesting and thought provoking. It is easy to listen to one after another, as each is so different. Great job Dan

This is quite a remarkable podcaster to listen and learn with. Dan Snow simply took my interest away from another show due to the way he interacts with guests who happen to be gentlemen (although he does speak with ladies occasionally) - and the fact that he often completely takes your entire...Read full review »

I am interested in the topics Dan Snow discussed but I find it difficult to hear him, especially while driving when I listen to podcasts as I drive a lot for work. Wow! Dan you have excelled again! Brilliant written and presented. A tour de force with excellent detail and drama. Even when a listener may think he knows a fair bit about a subject, history presented like this is utterly compelling and shows there is always so much more to learn . Bravo!!

Great episodes. I think at some point in WWII docs, any mention of the UK stepping up against the Axis should clearly articulate that Canada, Australia and India were vastly important in the defence and eventually offence that the UK mustered up!

Along with James Holland, Dan is my favourite historian. I’ve loved history since I was a child, and Dan has only fuelled this. I’m 25 now and look forward to the days I can watch or listen to Dan excite me with my history fix. So interesting, so engaging, really fantastic

I have been a listener of this brilliant podcast since the very beginning and this mini series was one of the all time best. Thanks Dan for all that you do, you are a truly wonderful historian and broadcaster.

I have listened to a lot of these podcasts and some of them are actually pretty decent. However, it is hard to stomach the Guardian style, smug revisionist take on many of the episodes. Any modern political analysis is so left wing bias as to be completely uselss.

Unfortunately the enthusiasm and slightly smarmy repartee ( more akin to an Italian waiter) don’t translate to incisive analytics. This is red brick at best vs oxbridge. Good for nursing homes

Very interesting topics, but the thriller music is too loud and one misses part of the explanation right in the most relevant bits. Very annoying. I understand the need to create an atmosphere but we’re here for the history.

Generally a decent show, I don’t listen to every episode; that being said, the Harris/Trump episode was soooo blatantly political and staged I almost threw up. There is a place for Left and Right political bias to exist, in fact whole podcast series are created around one side or the other. A...Read full review »

Aw man, I look to history podcasts as a distraction from contemporary political silliness. It’s a shame this one is sliding into the fray. Do people really buy the fear mongering by Rhodes?
