It's been many years since I first listened but in still a fan. It starts off slow and the presentation takes a little while to get used to. However, I found it well worth the listen. What I first considered "flaws" grew to become part of its charm. Love it!

I love the concept, which is the parents' greatest fear, that D&D players will take the game so seriously that they won't be able to tell what is the game and wihat is reality, when the reality is that they are trapped in the game world. Do they choose to act as their characters, or as...Read full review »

Story really brought me in. Wish there were more books, though. I really enjoyed this.

I really enjoyed the story and characters. The pronunciation of a few words did get to me at first but I am glad I did not let it cause me to drop this podcast. These words were katana and bouy (spelling incorrect) that I noticed. In the Q&A episode pronunciation and pauses were explained. But...Read full review »

I loved this story! It kept me interested and entertained. I enjoyed the different characters especially Kev and Vaughn and thought overall it was a great adventure . I really hope Kirk does a part 2.

Right, I'll try to keep this short. Complete lack of sympathetic characters. Even in a parody you have to have at least one likeable character. Everyone in this story is a jerk (and if you say that's the point, you've missed the point of parodies). Furthermore the story moves very slow due to the...Read full review »

There are some issues with the way he pronounces certain words that can be a bit distracting, but that's no dealbreaker on this one. I listen to podcasts at double speed, and combining that with the way he talks it came out sounding more than a little Shatnerish, but again, that's really just a...Read full review »

Ok storyline but I couldn't even make it halfway through. The reader mispronounces so many words and the flow of the reading is so uneven I had to listen at double speed.

I loved this podcast from the beginning to the end and also the readers voice was very unique. Can't wait for a Dark Age 2

I really enjoyed the idea of this book. The story was fun and enjoyable but it was difficult to get past the recording. The reading is very stilted and halting. It was very distracting and took away from the story. I would like to give the story 4 stars and the reading 1 star.

I love rpgs and this was a great narration of a gaming adventure. I expected something along the lines of the movie The Gamers, but this was much more interesting. Very descriptive and a story that draws you into the game world. "We have a winner!"

Dark age is a very entertaining romp into the "What if" possibility of becoming your role playing character in a d&d-esque game. If you have ever dabled in role playing games then this is this podcast/audiobook for you. Strong characters and exciting story!

This was a great book that had me laughing, sitting on the edge of my seat, then laughing again. It had everything I was hoping for and more in this fun adventure. The characters were great and added so much with the different paths they took. I am not a role playing gamer but I found myself...Read full review »

Like I said it's ok, not good just ok. Would probably have been better with a different person reading. As a gamer it was below average. Also it's pronounced Kah-Tah-Nah not Cat-In-ah, I just wanted to keep asking "Cat in a what? Tell me already!" My god it got so grating on my nerves, and toward...Read full review »

The story had an interesting premise, but it was extremely hard to listen to it without cringing. The worst part of the presentation is the constant mispronunciation of words. There were MANY words mispronounced, but the ones that really started to grate on my nerves were the ones that came up a...Read full review »

As a gamer, I liked the concept of moving from Real Life into the game. Unfortunately, I didn't feel the author was able to consistently deliver on the premise. The story meanders, the characters are too similar to allow any real connection to be established, and the voicing doesn't help to...Read full review »

I have nothing but wonderful things to say. I have never played anykind of role playing game and listened just out of curiousity. This story pulls you into a world of "danger at every corner"! Great plot and humor. My only question is - Kirk, what are you going to write next? Let me know!
