From Thoughtful to Incomplete
The Fae Covenant episode of Darker Days covers a lot of territory. I was interested in hearing some other early impressions of C20 due to the uptick in how many people are picking up the game, and before I got to the C20 review the episode talked about the V5pre-alpha that came out around the same time the episode was released. The V5 pre-alpha discussion (and we all remember how contentuous that topic was) was probably one of the most thoughtful and considered inspections of that text I've heard. No one backed away from the problems with the text, but they also didn't drag the whole piece through the mud. I honstly wish more people had taken the time to really dig into the details of the issues with the pre-alpha as completely as Darker Days. The C20 review was toucher for me to get through. The person who read C20 represented several details fo the game inaccurately, which made it difficult to take some of his views entirely seriously when he was dealing in an area I didn't know completely. There are a number of general falsehoods, or very narrow interpretations in the review that make it hard to really parse. Ignoring the imortality granting properties of Freeholds when talking about Sidhe aging (a dynamic that primarily applied to the Sidhe), presenting childling relationships in the old game as at least partially pedophilic (I had to deal with "coming out" into the queer community. A number of the Changeling writers have talked about being members of the alphabet soup community and how that informed development of the game. So this interpretation of a dynamic that was modeleed heavily off the mentorship relatinoships seen in the series Pose that I at least in part lived through made me really uncomfortable). Then there was presenting the Nocker flaw as absolute down to an example of how it would play out statistically across a number of devices, when it's specifically presented in the text as a dramatic option for the ST to use occasionally. That said, the show overall was incredibly well produced, and I have been very impressed by the other episodes of Darker Days I've listened to. If you're looking at getting other players into Changeling it's worth listeneing to this episode because it does highlight areas of the game that don't read well if you do a light skim (whcih let's face it a lot of new players will do), but I wouldn't recommend it if you're evaluating if you want to pick the game up.Read full review »

Great group of hosts that cover not only World of Darkness but other horror games and Warhammer. A little bit of something for everyone. All the hosts are knowledgeable and well spoken. Great job!

I liked it so much, I subscribed! The Hosts are personable, the guests I've heard so far are interesting. They have some great idea seeds for games they share with you which, in many cases, you could run with many of these ideas for any game that has a spooky side to it. I often find the...Read full review »

Thos podcast is insightful and always a good listen. As a new story teller I would love some actual plays of some of the new systems like Strix Chronicles and Mage the awakening.
