Not always accurate, sometimes distasteful dynamic
The premise of the MINI episodes is Kyle explaining a concept to his wife. From the content perspective, the choice of topics is interesting, but I find the way Kyle gets into them to lack focus (e.g. what will our pet bird do?) and he can often fall into misinterpretation traps (e.g. confidence intervals). Usually the problems with a given method are not discussed or explored. From the delivery perspective, the dynamic is off-putting and rehearses stereotypes of the quantatitively expert man and his dumb woman. Kyle's explanatory style comes off as condescending and Linh Da takes the role of dumb layperson (e.g. paraphrased: "ANOVA! What do you think that means?", "I really don't have any idea. That word sounds funny.", "Yeah, well ok, let's say you were throwing one of your great parties..."). Sometimes Linh Da has an interesting layperson's angle or an insightful question, but they aren't incorporated in a way that let's Kyle dig deeper into the topic.Read full review »

When you are listening to a subject you love and have to endure someone receiving teaching who is not only clueless but genuinely not interested... it is painful. It could work with someone who cared more. Great host, vapid wife.

What's up with the groggy talk and slurred speech? I like the content when it comes around, but so much chitchat.Read full review »

The mini-episodes teach me something new (or at least from a new angle) every week. The interview are really well done. Highly recommend.
