“I have come across this podcast only some nights ago (because I listen to podcasts for company and to calm down when my eyes feel too tired to continue reading while my mind is still fidgety and hungry) and am finding deep joy in it, because every episode I have listened to so far feels both deep and scintillatingly witty, full of deeply personal stories, anecdotes, memories and comments on lives rich with artistic and human experience. The conversations flow seemingly without effort, as they would among good friends or acquaintances who haven’t met in a while and then get the wonderful chance of delving deep into their own backstories – places, people, projects, constellations and situations.
David Tennant is a wonderful host because he keeps the conversational spotlight on his guests, actively listening, asking, commenting, full of curiosity and genuine interest, without taking himself too important. Yet he is not an ordinary „external“ interviewer, but an equal or at least "closely related" professional who inspires trust and openness because he shares many experiences with his guests and meets them with the decency and respect that helps people to open themselves and share their personal experiences.
Listening to all these thoughtful, eloquent guests telling stories from their lives is not only entertaining and often funny, but also feels meaningful and deep. It makes me appreciate art - and being human. Thank you for this.”Read full review »
