Timely, Poignant, & Invitational
An incredible display of careful, nuanced, and gifted story telling. In a time of political polarization and the struggle to understand what religious freedom means for the U.S., conversations regarding the real life impact of church teaching on things like family, marriage, sex, bodily autonomy, and LGBTQ topics tend to generate far more heat than light. Fung’s approach to sharing Alana’s life and death breaks through this cacophony and invites us into to a real reckoning with earnest faith, identity, and the cost of belonging. One of the best limited series I’ve ever heard. Bravo.

Wow. What a compelling life to share with us, and from a unique perspective from the narrator. Weighty and beautiful and heavy and light. Brava.
