“What a weird title, but…
**TL;DR: it’s a very good podcast. A fresh and informed first person, human-centered take on child stardom and how the systemic exploitation of children for entertainment makes for maladapted adults we are all still weirdly attached to. (Britney, anyone?)
… I sincerely appreciate the POV illustrated in this podcast.
Alyson and I are the same age. She was the girl doing everything we all *knew* we could do, if only we got discovered in our Mudd jeans at the mall. Missy video? Me next!
I glorified and appreciated Alyson’s celebrity in real time. As I grew up, she wasn’t really around in the newer media I consumed. Though, for some reason, I’d randomly wonder what she was up to. It probably aligned with some nostalgic remembrance of that one short show I used to love or that song coming up on my workout playlist.
Anyway, one day around 20 years later, I stumbled upon a tiktok with a face I recognized immediately. My initial, entirely gross yet genuine reaction was something like, “why is she so serious?” I don’t remember what the video was about or how long it had been since I’d engaged with her work, though I immediately expected Alyson and HER content and demeanor to align with expectations I’d formed when I was a child. Like she might be showing up, still, as some character I 100% know is fiction. How weird is that? As soon as I listened to Alyson speak, though, instead of expecting her to perform, I immediately found connection once again. Maybe it’s not the dances or the roles that make the person, but the human driving it all?! What a concept.
Dear Hollywood is a welcome break from the salacious, gossipy content about child stars we're used to consuming. Alyson Stoner is brilliant and well-spoken. This podcast is an example to be followed on centering the subject and their experience as opposed to highlighting villains and their exploits.
I genuinely can’t wait for more!”Read full review »

“I think it’s GREAT that people like you are coming out and speaking out and educating people of the creepy people in the industries.
When I was younger I wanted to be on tv but was too camera shy, luckily for me that never happened. But hearing about all the sickening things that go on behind...”Read full review »

“Do yourself a favor and listen to this show. A little concerned about how much personal experience the host shares ( hope their health and safety is not violated- it’s ok to not share about plastic surgery ) but appreciate the brutal honesty and intelligence they display. This is easily my new...”Read full review »
