Entertainment and consolation
Mallory is funny and offers refreshing perspectives on many of the issues she receives. I appreciate her compassion and her frequent refusal to go along with popular opinion, such as her advice that not dating might be the right move for the lovelorn. And sometimes murdering your spouse is just the only way to go. She often overestimates how much support people will have from their friends and families, and seems to assume most people can afford therapy, but if you can adjust yourself to the fact that you just live in a grittier world than she does, the podcast is consistently rewarding.

I listen to the free excerpts, and they bring me a lot of joy. I love the choice of guests, and I love Mal’s view of things even on the rare occasions when I disagree with them. This show brightens my days. Hail Mal Ortberg, long may they reign.

I will follow Mallory to the very ends of the earth. Fortunately, that's not necessary, as she is available for download on my phone. Buy her book, follow her on Twitter, read her on Slate, download her on iTunes.Read full review »

Mallory isn't snarky (like other advice podcasts), she just tells it like it is. She has an edge and a dark sense of humor that gives this show a different feel and tone than others. And, frankly, the length is perfect.Read full review »
