High Production Low Quality Storytelling
As amazing as the BBC’s sound production team must be, it can’t make up for the awkward cringeworthy attempt at storytelling-through-conversation format of the podcast. The hosts pretend like all of their investigations are happening “live” which makes me feel like I’m watching a kids tv program (think a murderous Dora the Explorer). I recommend the two hosts learn from their betters such as as Serial, Dirty John, S-Town etc to configure a better format for their content. The story they’ve chosen is actually really interesting and it would be a shame to let this all this research/interviews go to waste. So please PLEASE fix this BBC. Maybe it means having the hosts switch off areas of investigation or host completely different episodes - all I know is telling me to “come along” for the adventure ain’t cutting it.
