This is an absolute masterclass of true crime podcasting. This gripping, enigmatic, tragic case is sensitively, beautifully told and thoroughly investigated - with excellent sound and music production, too. Totally mesmeric.

I keep listening to true crime hoping I’ll catch a good one. Maybe 1 out of 2 dozen is worth it. But this one, it’s the best. Even though there’s no real answer once you start you are hooked. No answer is usually what persuades me to stop. How many times can you listen to the latest (Latest?)...Read full review »

It breaks my heart that she had no family. But it warms my heart that you care this much. She does have a family right here ♥️

This was my first ever venture into podcast land, and that turned out to be extremely fortuitous! I couldn’t sleep, I was looking for something I could follow that didn’t require me staring at a screen and thought this sounded interesting. Laying in the dark, the echoes of a woman’s voice bounced...Read full review »

Really enjoyed this podcast. You feel like you’re traveling and investigating along side of these two. Makes me want to visit Norway. The music captures the mood perfectly.

A great find this.

An intriguing story, which is carefully and methodically investigated, while never becoming prurient. Added to that, the beautiful sound design and haunting music, which really conjures up the dark, forbidding Nordic landscape this is an all-round winner and I recommend listening on headphones.

What a great podcast. This unsolved case has puzzled locals for decades. To hear the whole case laid out and gone through and new leads.. just fascinating.

Wonderfully produced. It’s a gripping story that keeps you listening. Nice work

We mostly enjoyed this podcast but the pacing was a bit too slow and repetitive. Most annoying was the use of, at times, music much louder than the rest of the episode, and poor clarity on some of the dialogue due to so much ambient noise (real and added in). The story itself is good but could...Read full review »

Such a fascinating case, slowly and grippingly laid before the audience‘s ears. Inexplicably, outside of Norway the case of the Isdal Woman seems to be quite unknown. So many curious details, but somehow, every time it seems to all make sense, there‘s that one puzzle piece that doesn’t fit....Read full review »

I really like podcasts where you have various voices and not just one. This one is really well done.

Recording conversations outside with ambient sound does two unfortunate things: makes the conversation harder to understand (especially when listening to thick Norwegian accents) and draws one's attention away from the content, which is a genuinely fascinating mystery. On top of that, the...Read full review »

Quite good and well crafted series, although it suffers from a stiff and cringy delivery from the 2 hosts.

Amazing and very creepy, music does tend to add to it a lot. It makes you really hope that one day we will figure out the identity of the woman from the popularity of this podcast. One suggestion though - you have her DNA, please save yourself the need to look for a needle in a haystack and run...Read full review »

Nice podcast, interesting story which reminds me of another case of an unidentified alleged female spy found in a Norwegian hotel. I enjoyed the introduction to this long running enigma and the host’s thoughtfulness in looking at all the evidence/scenarios about who this woman was and what led to her lonely life/death. Brilliant journalism & outstanding production quality. Aside from the compelling journalism/story telling, the background sound editing adds to the atmosphere greatly. The journalists humanise the Isdal woman & treat her story with respect rather than a dehumanised token of mystery. I...Read full review »

Interesting and well done. Appreciate the thoroughness of the investigation, and the hosts do a great job of presenting clearly and in an organized way. Side note: where can I get an hour long loop of the theme music played at the end?? I think it would be amazing to play to sleep to!!!
amyb7399 via Apple Podcasts · United States of America · 05/18/22
Interesting podcast but there is a lot of rampant speculation based on no facts which are then taken as a truth. Also over dramatic in true BBC fashion.

Fantastically presented and thoroughly researched true crime investigation. This murder case opens up discussion around the Cold War, international espionage, coercion of vulnerable people and even reaches back to the impact of WW2 on the lives of ordinary people in Europe. I like the multiply episode podcast when there’s one mystery/murder/death to follow the suspense is great! Narration 👍🏼
marisamary16 via Apple Podcasts · Canada · 03/14/22
The episodes are slow and filled with noises (rain, steps, doors…) and the investigation doesn’t really bring any light on the case and some conclusions/deductions are very naive (like the moments in Germany)

I really enjoyed this, but in places the dialogue, discussion and review of progress are really repetitive and rambling, and sometimes there are just pauses for several seconds of atmospheric music which add nothing other than diluting the lack of content in that episode. This is an interesting topic, but terribly frustrating to listen to. It feels really drawn out, and the sound design, while excellent, is over-utilised. Great story telling and engaging. I’m sorry to the people who want everything to have an ending but life, especially true crime, often doesn’t. They really care about giving her name back to her and you should too!

I could listen to Marit Higraff speak all day long and the ethereal nordic vocalisations and ASMR-style ‘rain on umbrella’ make this quite a relaxing and reflective podcast.
Rubyroo68 via Apple Podcasts · Australia · 08/07/21
Maybe if you are from Norway and can somehow relate you should listen to it. Interviews with people that can recall every detail of random conversations in 1970 is not very credible. At the end there isn’t anything very revealing.

Only gave 5 stars because this podcast was the most well done true crime podcast I’ve listened to. The story, however is very frusterating and slow. I really wanted to like this podcast, but I’m not convinced the “let’s see what we can find” formula works.
