Unsure
I am unsure about this podcast. Of course the subject is important. Both the mystery surrounding the events and the cultural implications are extremely complex and compelling. But after listening to the first two episodes, I haven’t heard any new insights or information that I haven’t already heard or read before. The programmer’s commentary is a little thin, perhaps in a bid to be accessible, which, in my opinion, causes the whole effort to fall flat. At least so far. I will keep listening. It definitely opens up a lot of ethical questions about the true crime genre as podcast entertainment, which is something I’ve tried to ignore. If one is unfamiliar with Mendieta, this is a reasonable introduction.
