Stripling segment makes this podcast - but know your audience…
Great podcast overall and have been a subscriber for a long time now… but the best part, by far, are the regular weekly segments with Ross Stripling, who I can only imagine is treating this as a long-form interview for a future in management or broadcasting as he shares his insights and is incredibly eloquent and engaging in his style. That said, my humble suggestion would be to either move the weekly recap to the end of the episode or at least mention what time it ends for people who want to skip ahead… I’d imagine that most people listening are already pretty hardcore fans, so why do we need a recap on games we ourselves were watching? Another idea would be to combine the weekly recap with the Ross Stripling segment to have him sprinkle his insights through the week that was by taking us behind curtain on what may not have been obvious to those of us watching on TV… maybe that look back with Ross could be called the weekly “Trip with Strip”? Overall, great stuff here and well worth the regular listen, would just love to see you really lean into the Stripling partnership and recognize that a meandering reliving of games listeners already saw might not be the most engaging way to start each episode. Will upgrade this to a 5-star review if I hear you mention this review and try the ‘Trip with Strip’ concept in an upcoming episode. :)

More reviews of Deep Left Field with Mike Wilner
Mike is an excellent interviewer. He gives his guests the space to answer and unlike others, he actually listens to his guests. I appreciate his honesty.

I’m very glad to have found this podcast. Mike Wilner’s radio presence was a large part of my teenage and young adult years getting into baseball. His level-headed and informed approach to baseball, etc., are rivalled only by Ross Stripling — another great reason to check out this show. Thank you...Read full review »

Love this podcast. I loved listening to Muke on ‘Jays talk’ in the older news days and this is maturation of those conversations. My favourite so far was the Tom Cheek tribute a few month ago which was so nostalgic for me and brought up great memories of listening to baseball broadcasts with...Read full review »
