Deep Questions is the only podcast I listen to every week without fail. I find myself learning something new and interesting every episode. Above all it’s a show that makes you think about your life and take small changes (bets) to improve it in a meaningful way. The show is also quite...Read full review »

I first came across Cal via the Minimalists. Since then I’ve read So Good They Can’t Ignore You, Deep Work & Digital Minimalism and they’re all fabulous books that have given me actionable ideas about how to improve my own productivity. If you’re interested in improving your productivity, or...Read full review »

This is one of my favorite podcasts right now, so much good content! Love the deep dives and the case studies. There is one thing that flummoxes me, however. Cal says “drawling” instead of “drawing.” Why? Is this an east coast thing? Have people corrected him and he just delights in the...Read full review »

This is the only podcast I listen to that has insights that I actually end up applying to my own life. Many podcasts give advice, but none else have prompted me to make real positive changes that stick. At the beginning of the podcast’s run, Cal mostly just answered questions from listeners and...Read full review »

I really enjoyed this podcast when it first started out and even submitted a question in the first year. It was cool to watch Cal work through his ideas in real time with actual situations. But it turns out lots of people have the same problems at work, and as the podcast has grown bigger and...Read full review »

This podcast has some useful content, But only 30-45 minutes of it. Episodes generally run for more than an hour which is completely unnecessary.

Excellent insights - Has impacted my workflow and daily habits in a positive way. Thanks to Cal and Jesse!

For knowledge workers this is the best and most useful content there is and there has ever been on the planet, and arguably in the universe.

I am following Cal Newport‘s publications since 2017. His work has had a big impact on my career and private life. Wonderful podcast!

Episode 254 is one of my faves but there is a constant boom boom boom noise in the background that just ruins the episode. I hope there aren’t any other episodes like this. This one is so clippable - so much good stuff that people will want to listen to repeatedly…but the background noise drove...Read full review »

If you’re a self improver, this show is for you. Cal’s advice is articulate, hilarious, and pragmatic. Everything from productivity to career direction to living more meaningfully with less distraction. My life runs like a TAG Heuer thanks to Cal. Smooth. Okay, not always, but increasingly....Read full review »

I appreciate when content flows effectively and efficiently from a creator (but is still packed with research, interesting insights, and problem-solving tactics). In other words, some real magic is being pumped out consistently here and a lot of it is original and hard to find on other podcasts....Read full review »

I thought it was the tool. I thought the next planner or the next piece of software would make work better. More manageable. More tolerable. I was wrong. I didn’t have systems in my life that worked. I didn’t have a WAY of working and thinking that adequately addressed the modern workplace....Read full review »

A fantastic podcast. Cal values his time and his audience’s. There’s not a lot of fluff here or meandering tangents. He gets right to the crux of the problem, addressing questions, providing insights, and useful tips. I appreciate the timestamps, too, which further prove he not interested in...Read full review »

Cal’s advice manages to feel modern, wise, cutting edge, relevant and timeless without gimmicks and, importantly, without being contradictory. So much online “productivity advice” feels gimmicky, shallow(!), and more about shiny tools and marginal gains for clicks which, ultimately, cause more...Read full review »

Love Cal’s podcasts. Packed with useful info, always experimenting to keep the show fresh and he has a wicked sense of humour. Keep it up Cal. Big fan from Scotland.

Cal Newport simplifies complicated subjects while adding depth. Absolutely brilliant! The only podcast I usually listen to at normal speed because his pace is perfect and he’s serving up way too much to take in at 1.5x or 2x. At first I thought I’d never listen to the same person talk for an hour...Read full review »

Dit was hele een leuke podcasten om naar te luisteren. Ik heb er veel van opgestoken. Maar nu moet je er een joetjoep filmpje bij bekijken om het te kunnen volgen. Ik haak daarom af. Jammer.

I was really enjoying the content until he had to mock any feminist critique of his work, because of course the feminist critics are idiots who don’t understand anything and are attacking a straw man. I have learned a lot from reading Deep Work and SGTCIY, but it’s this podcast that has really helped me learn about or validate my intuition about how to prioritize my time - even though I’m at a primarily undergraduate/teaching university. Love Cal Newport’s work, for over 10 years. He’s helped me in so many ways, but sometimes…man let Jesse speak! He keeps getting interrupted by Cal.

I discovered Cal Newport’s body of work at Powells bookstore in Portland, Oregon, where “So Good They Can’t Ignore You” was featured as an Employee Favorite. This is my revised review, after the initial one was removed. There is some good content here but the host comes off a bit preachy and full of himself. And the office video tour, which featured his books on every wall of the space, was perhaps a bit much.

… just felt like one big promo for Ryan H and his new book. I lasted until half way through then gave up. Can we please have all Cal or at least much less bro-centric promo content please? It’s the first time ever I’ve not finished one of your podcasts, Cal.

I love this podcast and can’t wait for it to drop every week. Cal’s productivity and deep life insights are always interesting, helpful, and a pleasure to listen to. I also love that it’s not a political show. Amid all the division today this podcast actually soothes the soul.

Good content here but two things I wish would change—one is that Newport seems to be doing an impression of talk radio hosts he has listened to, with long pauses between words, etc. He should just use his natural voice. The other is that he overdoes it with the self-deprecating humor, and jokes...Read full review »
